About MP3

MP3 is the most popular digital audio encoding and compression format for the web. It is designed to deliver high-quality audio in very small files that can be distributed over the internet. It was invented by a team of European engineers, and it became an ISO/IEC standard in 1991. MP3 format allows us to take a full hour of audio, that would normally be over 600 Megabytes, and compress it a reasonable download of only 27 Megabytes! In order to drastically reduce the files in this manner, some sound quality is lost, yet it still sounds like a reasonable reproduction to most listeners.
